TAMAN SARI

ONE DAY “ADVENTURE” WITH RENATA AT
TAMAN SARI COMPLEX

“No wonder, Chensy doesn’t wanna go with you Xervan! If you wanna date a girl like her, you better take her shopping with you in the fashion store, instead of insisting her to join your ‘Indiana Jones Adventure’ wanna be!”
--- Renata Natalie ---

I’ve been spent almost five hours walking around with Renata in the Keraton and Taman Sari complex. Renata Natalie is one of my best friends, a smart pretty girl who loves photography. Taman Sari a.k.a The Water Castle(Dutch: waterkasteel) is a rest house and leasure park for the Royal Family. It was build by Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono I (Pangeran Mangkubumi) who ruled Jogjakarta kingdom in 1755 - 1792 AD). The Complex administratively is located at “Taman” Village, the distric of Keraton, in the municipality of Yogyakarta.

This complex consisted of four distinct areas: a large artificial lake with islands and pavilions located in the west, a bathing complex in the centre, a complex of pavilions and pools in the south, and a smaller lake in the east. One of the most popular object in Taman Sari is The bathing complex. Although this area wasn’t the main point of Taman Sari, it’s  still the best preseved area in the complex. Currently it’s become the most popular tourist attraction. You can accessed this area via two gates on the east and the west side. Each of those gates leads to the center of the complex, first to an inner octogonal-shaped courtyard on the east and the west, and then each of these courtyards leads to a central bathing complex in the center.

Taman Sari’s building has a combination and mixture style of Javanese and Portuguese architecture. Architecture History has become one of my favorite in my major. Exploring the ancient buildings complex of Taman Sari, gives me so much enjoyment, but not for Renata. We went to the local restaurant, after the whole day of walking around. Renata looks so tired. I suggest to her ordering Nasi Soto Lamongan and Wedang Ronde for our dinner, and Renata just agrees with me.
“No wonder, Chensy doesn’t wanna go with you Xervan! If you wanna date a girl like her, you better take her shopping with you in the fashion store, instead of insisting her to join your ‘Indiana Jones Adventure’ wanna be!” Renata says.
“Yeah! She told me so! How ‘bout you Renata? Didn’t you enjoy our adventure?”
“Me? You call it adventure? Hahaha…do I look like enjoying it? Next time you ask me to hang out, just take me to the beach. A beautiful beach. I’m gonna wait for the sunset, and take some pictures of it! ” Renata says.
“I know! You always love the beach. What’s so interesting about it?”
“What’s so interesting about it? What is the best beach you've ever been visited Xervan?”
     “I've only visited Parangtritis!”
“That’s all? Then you don’t know nothing about beach travelling!”
    “Tell me about it!”
“Have you ever heard about Pulau Tidung? Bunaken, or Karimunjawa?”
Karimunjawa? I only read that in the internet! ”
“The place is more like a paradise on earth! Indonesia has a lot of places that you must see before you die Xervan! Karimunjawa National Park is only one of them.”
“Hmmmm… Now you make me so curious Renata!”
“I really wanna go there! So, what do you think? You can join with me if you like.”
It sounds so interesting to me! Have you planned to go to there? When will you go?”
    “What about next month?”
    “Hmmm…, Okay! Deal!”

THE END.
